PHOTO STORY: Life beyond HD
For the Nungaray family, the 50/50 chance of a child inheriting Huntington's Disease from a sick parent played out exactly that way. Aurelia Nungaray passed away from HD in 2009. Today, three of her six children are symptomatic with the disease.

For this project, I wanted to peek behind the veil of silence and show what everyday life looks like for the families that are dealing with this diagnosis.
I also wanted to show that even though there is no cure, there can still be love. There can still exist moments of joy. At least for a while. And we all need to remember to capture and savor those when they occur, regardless of our health status.
